Congratulations Chris and Jessie!

Today I had the great pleasure of making a cake for my dear friends Chris and Jessie. The union of these two wonderful people brings me joy - I'm so glad they have found each other.

Jessie's love of Hibiscus flowers allowed me the opportunity to make some for the first time.  I hope you enjoy this cake as much as we did!

My friends Chris and Jessie are getting married on Saturday... I'm so excited to make their cake (and then actually STAY for the wedding!)  Here's a sneak peek at how the gumpaste hibiscus flowers are coming along...

Featured Vendor Friday - Okay Dance

I'm pleased to blog today about a fabulous dance instructor - Debra Endres!  If you are planning your big day - don't forget about the first dance!

Okay Dance in Loveland, CO is owned by Debra Endres - a professional ballroom dance instructor with over 25 years of experience.  Debra  received most of her training through Arthur Murray Dance Studio: teaching and  competing professionally in  Minneapolis, MN. before moving to Colorado in 2003. Once here she started Okay Dance in Loveland to continue her passion of bringing couples together by introducing them to the beautiful world of dance. Her teaching covers many styles of dance including ballroom, swing, latin, country, and line dancing.  She offers group, private and semi-private lessons, monthly dance parties, wedding choreography and special events here in Northern Colorado.

She especially enjoys working with wedding couples in creating their special wedding dance. It's her desire to assist the bride and groom in making their wedding day dreams come true by providing quality dance instruction and have something they can do together for the rest of their lives.

You can find out more information on her website at www.okaydance.com; for the latest in monthly group classes and events or call her at 970-988-4693.

50th Anniversary Cake

I celebrated my 10th wedding anniversary last week.  While that's wonderful, it pales in comparison to celebrating 50 years!  Today I had the pleasure of creating a 50th Anniversary cake adorned with gold lace.

This 3 tier cake was a vanilla bean cake with vanilla pastry cream.

Topsy-Turvy wedding cake

This cake was delivered to the Lionsgate Event Center in Lafayette.  I had fun with this design - provided by the bride.  Flavors were Spiced Chocolate with Irish Cream Buttercream, and Champagne with Fresh Berries - all covered in white chocolate fondant.  Fresh flowers were provided by Rachel and Dixie of Bridal Rose Florists and the catering was by Footers Catering - what a great lineup!

Edible Figures

I don't get requests very often to put figurines on a cake, so I took the liberty of trying one out when I did the garden cake for the Loveland Wedding Professionals meeting.  She's a bit heavy on eye make-up, but I had fun making her!  There is a wonderful book at the library on fairy tale type cakes (by Debbie Brown) and she has great figurines.  Can't wait to try more!

Featured Vendor Friday - The Great Frame Up

I am proud to be a member of the Loveland Wedding Professionals.  We are a group of businesses with a goal to make Loveland a destination wedding location - but did you know we are not all cake makers, venues and florists?

One of our members plays a key role in preserving those memories, and I wanted to learn more.  Today I would like to introduce you to our first Featured Vendor - Ming Bao from The Great Frame Up .

The Great Frame Up, located at the Promenade Shops at Centerra, has over 67 years of framing expertise, and have experts for all your framing needs.  They have a selection of ready made frames and mats that are cash and carry.  Special orders are welcome, too.  They help you select a frame/mat design that fits your taste, matches your decor, and shows off the framed pieces the best.  All the work is done on site, and it usually takes us about 2 weeks to complete an order.  Same day service is available if the materials are in stock.

The Great Frame Up has frames made of metal, and wood, and molded plastic.  Wood frames range from earth-friendly frames made from recycled materials to hardwood frames.  They have approx 1000+ different
frames to select from, and clients can see a physical sample of the different frames they offer.

For brides, The Great Frame Up offers framing and shadow box services.  Shadow Boxes are a great way to preserve such items as engagement photos, wedding photos, dried flowers from the wedding, invitations, or other memorabilia.

One great item I love are the Signature Mats.  You can place one at your reception or other party and have guests sign the mat border, then afterward it is used to frame the photo of your choice.

I am glad to have learned so much about The Great Frame Up.  They offer a great way to preserve and display memories of your special day.

The Great Frame Up is located across from Barnes and Noble at the Promenade Shops at Centerra in Loveland.
Hours are 10 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday.
